Pressing My Buttons

One of the first ‘fully v5’ sites implemented (i.e. not upgraded from v4 from InformationLeader) had very specific speed and use requirements that was able to showcase features discussed in a number of previous blog posts.

Products came down a conveyor belt and operators checked each outgoing product for defects. Employees required a very rapid data entry mechanism for increasing the count for any specific type of defect. The solution also needed to be able to send notifications as soon as problems reached a pre-defined amount.

Firstly, we need rapid data entry – they needed to quickly increase a count for particular defect types, and also constantly save their form. The answer was buttons!

Buttons

The touch friendly buttons increase or decrease findings. To meet the other requirements, we added some automation to the form – the form is saved when the buttons are pressed, and when greater than 10 defects are found an email notification is sent to the shift’s supervisor.
